Would a wet food help my kidney disease cat stay hydrated?

Hydration on our food is not a problem and can easily be confirmed with a blood and urine test on any healthy cat. Kidney cats are usually at varying stages of hydration depending on how far the disease has progressed. Wet food does not really help a kidney cat, because they are already drinking many times the water that they can absorb. A wet litter is usually the first outward appearance that leads people to bring their cat to the Vet. They are drinking more water than they need, but are unable to absorb that water, no matter the source. Wet food will not improve their ability to absorb additional water.
